B.Grimm looks back to celebrate its 143rd anniversary
Starting as the first European pharmacy for Western medicine in Thailand named Siam Dispensary on New Road in 1878, B.Grimm expanded into a billion-dollar corporation with a variety of lucrative interests. Under the leadership of its founders Bernhard Grimm and Erwin Mueller, the company quickly became successful and was later appointed as official court pharmacist to the Thai Royal Family. B.Grimm committed itself to the improvement of Thailand’s healthcare system, serving as one of the kingdom’s leading suppliers of pharmaceuticals, antiseptics, laboratory instruments, and medical equipment to hospitals and clinics.
B.Grimm awarded Thailand’s great pride
B.Grimm, under the leadership of Herbert and Alma Link, has been recognised for its contribution to the betterment of Thai society. In the 1900s, B.Grimm was awarded the Coat of Arms of Siam for its service to the country during the reign of King Rama V. The company was also granted the use of the Coat of Arms of Siam from Crown Prince Vajiravudh. After the First World War, during the reign of King Rama VII, B.Grimm would receive this honour again, with some adjustments to the Garuda signifying another reign. Moreover, B.Grimm was granted the Royal Coat of Arms by HM King Rama VII. The B.Grimm logo is inspired by Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, as the company was the main importer of the enamelled tiles that adorn the historic temple. Moreover, in 1939, Adolf Link was appointed Siam’s Honorary Consul General in Hamburg. Later, in 1953, Dr. Gerhard A. Link was appointed to succeed his father as Honorary Consul in Hamburg.
