Siam joins the ranks of the World Bank

Siam’s membership of the World Bank was unanimously endorsed with a subscription to the International Monetary Fund fixed at $12.5 million. The Siamese government worked out a plan to obtain limited periodic loans for three important projects: the construction of a hydroelectric plant to supply power to 19 provinces including Bangkok; rehabilitation of the railways; and installation of local irrigation schemes.
