20,000 Thai millionaires and rising

Thailand boasted more than 20,000 dollar millionaires (excluding property assets), as the recovery from the 1997-1998 financial crisis continued.

The exclusive group had expanded slightly from the previous year, according to a report published by Cap Gemini Ernst & Young consultancy and Merrill Lynch. Many of Thailand’s millionaires had made money from the region’s stock market boom over the previous 12 months, it said.
