Royal consort Srirasmi renounces status

His Majesty the King allowed the royal consort to His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn to relinquish her royal status, according to an announcement published in the Royal Gazette.

The announcement was issued by a royal command and was counter-signed by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

‘The King has issued a royal command to announce that Her Royal Highness Princess Srirasmi, the royal consort to His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, has informed the Crown Prince in a written document that she has requested permission to resign from her royal status,’ the announcement read.

‘His Majesty the King has acknowledged this and granted permission.’
