New bridge over Chao Phraya to ease traffic

A ceremony was held to open the Rama VI Bridge across the Chao Phraya River, representing a bright spot in a year marked by complaints about the state of the capital’s infrastructure and traffic.

Earlier in the year, the government took over passenger transport on the Tok Road-Tha Tian route along New Road due to complaints. Parking was also prohibited on New Road from February, and in July, police limited the number of samlor drivers allowed in the city. Even public Chinese opera performances, which caused traffic problems, did not escape the government’s campaign.
