Rain-makers get green light to seed the clouds

Plans to produce artificial rain by seeding clouds with chemicals to induce moisture to fall on parched areas of the country got the thumbs up from the government.

Cabinet ministers agreed to the idea after being impressed by a film about rain-making techniques, which was shown at Government House by the Royal Irrigation Department’s director-general, Chuchart Khamphu. Agricultural production was dependent on the whims of nature, making the country’s economy far too vulnerable, Chuchart said.
