Air conditioner arrives at the Grand Palace
As Bangkok had been recently rated in a survey conducted by a world meteorological service as the hottest city in the world, air-conditioning system for a tropical country such as Thailand became a necessity. Herbert Link, a German entrepreneur of B.Grimm, won the rights to distribute air- conditioning under the brand Carrier in 1962. Many of Bangkok’s leading government buildings, residential and office complexes, recreation centers, plants, hotels, and hospitals became comfortably cooler, including the Chakri Maha Prasart Throne Hall at the Grand Palace.
