Bangkok Planetarium opens

In 1962, the Thai government approved of the plan to build a planetarium in Bangkok to support the education of geography, science, and astronomy for the youth and general public. The Ministry of Education, led by its minister Mom Luang Pin Malakul, selected B.Grimm and its partner from Germany, Carl Zeiss, well-recognised for cutting-edge technological advances, to construct the building and install the main projector and equipment. The opening ceremony of the Bangkok Planetarium was presided over by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on 18 August 1964.
