‘Toyota opens assembly plant in Samut Prakan

The Toyota Motor Company Limited of Japan, at the time the largest automobile producer in Asia, opened a new assembly plant on 17 rai of land at Samut Prakan, just outside Bangkok.

The new plant could assemble 300 cars and trucks per month. At a press conference a few days before the opening, Shiro Onishi, vice president of sales for Toyota, said that he hoped the new plant would benefit Thailand’s economy.
