Riding high in Pattaya

The beach resort of Pattaya, which had quickly become a new international hot spot as well as a popular weekend holiday destination for Thais, took its entertainment facilities to a new level by offering parasailing trips. The latest recreation was introduced using parasailing equipment described as identical to that used by US astronaut John Glenn for his space flight.

Hailed as ‘the best of parachuting and water skiing, but without the skis’, parasailing was only one of many entertaining diversions available in rapidly developing Pattaya. Property in the previously sleepy coastal town was starting to rise in value, largely due to its proximity to Bangkok.
