Thailand first in Asia to approve Viagra sales

Thailand became the first Asian country to approve the sale of Viagra, the much-publicised anti-impotence drug.

The Food and Drug Administration approved in principle the sale of Viagra, but included restrictions specifying that the drug only be sold in hospitals with prescriptions written by specialists in urology, psychiatry, cardiology and endocrinology, which are linked to erectile dysfunction.

Viagra (sildenafil) was expected to sell at less than 400 baht a pill, according to Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in Thailand.
